Personalized Vein Care & Treatment
No two patients experience vein disease in the same way. Whether you're bothered by visible spider veins, experiencing painful varicose veins, or managing chronic venous insufficiency, the right treatment depends on your symptoms, overall vein health, and personal goals. At Cardiovascular Physicians of Delaware, our vein specialists provide comprehensive evaluations and personalized treatment plans using advanced, minimally invasive techniques designed to improve circulation, relieve discomfort, and restore confidence in your legs.
Following a thorough vein evaluation, we'll recommend the treatment option that best addresses your condition while helping you achieve the best possible long-term outcome.
Sclerotherapy
Sclerotherapy is a minimally invasive treatment commonly used to improve the appearance of spider veins and certain small varicose veins. During the procedure, a specialized solution is injected directly into the affected vein, causing it to collapse and gradually be absorbed by the body. Blood is naturally redirected through healthier veins, improving circulation while reducing the appearance of visible veins. Treatment is performed in the office, requires little to no downtime, and most patients return to normal activities the same day.
Endovenous Ablation
Endovenous ablation is a minimally invasive procedure used to treat larger varicose veins and chronic venous insufficiency. Using heat generated by laser or radiofrequency energy, your vein specialist closes the damaged vein from the inside, allowing blood to reroute through nearby healthy veins. The procedure is performed using local anesthesia through a small catheter, requires no large incisions, and offers a faster recovery than traditional vein surgery.
Microphlebectomy
Microphlebectomy, also called ambulatory phlebectomy, is a procedure used to remove large varicose veins through tiny incisions in the skin. Because the incisions are very small, stitches are typically unnecessary, and scarring is minimal. This treatment can significantly improve both symptoms and appearance while allowing patients to return to most normal activities within a short period of time.
Cosmetic Vein Care
Many patients seek treatment because they are unhappy with the appearance of visible veins, while others experience symptoms such as aching, heaviness, swelling, or fatigue. Our vein specialists understand that cosmetic and medical concerns often go hand in hand. During your consultation, we'll evaluate your vein health to determine whether an underlying circulation problem is present and recommend treatment options that address both the appearance of your veins and your overall vascular health.
What to Expect During Vein Treatment
Most modern vein treatments are performed in the office using minimally invasive techniques that require little downtime. Before treatment, your specialist will perform a comprehensive evaluation, which may include ultrasound imaging to assess blood flow and identify the source of your symptoms. Your personalized treatment plan will be based on your diagnosis, medical history, lifestyle, and treatment goals.
Following your procedure, you may be asked to wear compression stockings for a period of time and remain active by walking regularly to promote healthy circulation. Most patients are able to return to their normal daily activities within a day or two, although your specialist will provide recovery instructions based on your specific treatment.
Insurance & Financing
Many vein treatments are covered by insurance when they are considered medically necessary to treat symptoms or underlying vein disease. Cosmetic procedures performed solely to improve appearance may not be covered. Our team can help determine whether your treatment may qualify for insurance coverage, explain any recommended testing, and answer questions about payment and financing options before treatment begins.
